REVIEW: Nashville Rebel is the story of Arlin Grove (Waylon Jennings) recently discharged from the Army and trying to make his way to the top in country music. Along the way he encounters trials and tribulations – a forced marriage after being caught in a compromising position with the niece of a store owner, (Molly Frann), a scheming attorney, Wesley Lang (Gordon Oas-Heim), who recognizes his talent and signs him up for personal representation, Lang’s beautiful companion, Margo (Ce Ce Whitney) who is given the task of taking the country out of the boy resulting in Arlin leaving his wife unbeknowing that she is pregnant and the meteoric rise and subsequent fall from country music glory and the eventual rise once again to the top with the aid of country music legend Tex Ritter playing himself. Along with Tex there is an extraordinary cast of country music artists appearing in the movie, Faron Young, Porter Wagoner, Loretta Lynn, The Wilburn Brothers, Sonny James and Cousin Jody. As usual Bear Family don’t do anything by half measures and along with the movies there is also included an audio songbook featuring the music score of the movie and a video songbook featuring every clip of every performance in the movie along with a 28 page booklet. A must for all country music fans.
