REVIEW: SUGAR RAY ROBINSON – POETRY IN MOTION – Fighting in divisions from Lightweight up to Light Heavyweight, Sugar Ray Robinson was the first boxer to be described as the best ‘pound -for pound’ fighter in the world. Cited as the greatest boxer of the 20th century by Associated Press, and as the greatest boxer in history by ESPN, other notable names who point to Robinson as the best in the business include none other than Joe Louis and Muhammed Ali.

Born Walker Smith Jr, it took 75 professional fights before Sugar Ray Robinson got his shot at the World Welterweight Title, along the way establishing a legendary rivalry with ‘The Raging Bull’ Jake LaMotta. Stepping up to the Middleweight meant once again facing LaMotta in what became Known as “The St Valentine’s Day Massacre’, as well as Hall of Fame boxers such as Carmen Basilio and Gene ‘Cyclone’ Fullmer.
