REVIEW: Over a history spanning four decades, State Of Origin football has presented us with some of the greatest memories in Australian sporting history. Here, we step back in time to present five of the greatest Origin games ever played by the New South Wales Blues, presented in their entire original broadcast format. From Steve Mortimer’s heroics of 1985 and Mark Geyer’s rough-housing of 1991, to Ben Elias’ mastery of the ruck in 1994 and Andrew Johns’ peerless display in 2003, this classic collection is a must for any Blues fan.

1985, GAME 2: New South Wales 21 – 14 Queensland – In a see-sawing affair at the SCG, inspirational Blues halfback Steve Mortimer charges down a Wally Lewis field goal attempt, while a late Brett Kenny try seals New South Wales’ first ever Origin series game.

1991, GAME 2: New South Wales 14 – 12 Queensland – Mark Geyer roughs up the Maroons side and goes toe-to-toe with an incensed Wally Lewis, while Michael O’Connor lands a sideline conversion in the dying minutes to clinch a memorable victory.

1994, GAME 3: New South Wales 27 – 12 Queensland – Blues hooker Ben Elias is at the top of his game, controlling the play and potting three field goals as New South Wales clinch the 1994 decider at “The Cauldron”, spoiling Mal Meninga’s farewell party in the process.

1999, GAME 2: New South Wales 12 – 8 Queensland – Playing in his last Origin match in Sydney, Blues legend Laurie Daley latches on to an Andrew Johns pass and scores the match-winning try, avenging New South Wales’ loss in Game 1.

2003, GAME 2: New South Wales 27 – 4 Queensland – New South Wales playmaker Andrew Johns turns in one of the finest displays in Origin history, playing puppet-master as the Blues dominate Queensland all over the park and take the series in two games.
