MUDDY WATERS (BORN McKINLEY MORGANFIELD IN ROLLING FORK, MISSISSIPPI ON APRIL 4, 1915) CAME FROM WORLDS AWAY: FROM THE MISSISSIPPI DELTA BEFORE AMERICA ENTERED THE FIRST WORLD WAR. HIS FIRST RECORDINGS WERE FOR THE LIBRARY OF CONGRESS IN SESSION WITH ALAN LOMAX IN THE EARLY ‘40s. HE LATER TOOK OFF FOR CHICAGO TO TRY HIS HAND AT SOME COMMERCIAL RECORDING. HIS FIRST MAJOR SUCCESS CAME IN 1948 WITH “I CAN’T BE SATISFIED” FOR THE ARISTOCRAT LABEL (LATER TO BE RENAMED CHESS RECORDS). IN 1976 HE SIGNED WITH BLUE SKY RECORDS (A SUBSIDIARY OF CBS) AND ALL TRACKS ON THIS CD COME FROM THOSE SESSIONS FOR BLUE SKY RECORDED BETWEEN 1976 AND 1980 UNDER THE AUSPICES OF JOHNNY WINTER.
