REVIEW: This DVD contains all known footage of Gene Vincent performing on the Town Hall Party television show. The footage is taken from kinescopes which involved directing a movie camera at a television screen and filming the show. This was the only method available at that particular time to preserve live television shows. The quality of the footage is not perfect but is quite watchable and the audio is also fair to good. The main thing is that for Gene’s fans this is a must have addition to their collections. The shows included here are from 25th October, 1958, 25th July, 1959 and 7th November, 1959. The kinescopes used here are off line kinescopes which are inferior to online kinesopes. It would be interesting to see what the quality of the online kinescopes are. Maybe one day someone will have the foresight to release them to the public. In the meantime we have these to tide us over.
