EDDIE COLE, THE ELDER BROTHER OF NAT “KING” COLE BEGAN HIS MUSICAL CAREER IN 1930 WHEN HE JOINED NOBEL SIZZLE’S BAND, SIZZLING SYNCOPATORS. HE PLAYED WITH MANY OTHER BANDS OVER THE YEARS WHICH INCLUDED IN 1936 JOINING NAT COLE’S, ROGUES OF RHYTHM AS A BASS PLAYER ALTHOUGH HE WAS QUITE PROFICIENT AT THE PIANO AS ALL SIX SIBLINGS OF THE COLE FAMILY WERE AND PIANO WAS THE INSTRUMENT HE STAYED WITH FOR THE REST OF HIS CAREER. EDDIE MOVED TO PHILADELPHIA IN 1949 AND LANDED A CONTRACT WITH THE GOTHAM LABEL WHERE HE RECORDED THE TRACKS CONTAINED IN THIS CD. THE THREE PEPPERS WERE A POPULAR JIVE GROUP FORMED IN ST. LOUIS IN THE MID 30s. THEY FIRST RECORDED FOR THE VARIETY LABEL AND THEN MOVED ON TO DECCA RECORDS WHERE THEY REMAINED UNTIL 1949 WHEN THEY SIGNED WITH THE GOTHAM LABEL. THEY RECORDED 12 TRACKS FOR GOTHAM OF WHICH ONLY 8 HAVE EVER BEEN LOCATED, 5 OF WHICH APPEAR ON THIS CD. V. GOOD ***
