REVIEW: The partnership of Peter Brock and Larry Perkins scored three consecutive James Hardie 1000 wins at Bathurst in the early to mid 1980s, becoming the first duo in the race's history to achieve the feat. A new combination for 1982, Brock and Perkins were almost unstoppable in their new 'SS' model Commodore and led home a clean sweep of the podium positions by Holden drivers.

The win was Brock's sixth victory in the famous Bathurst race and the first of an eventual six for former Formula 1 driver Perkins. It was also a history-making day in motorsport television broadcasting in Australia as the duo's number 05 Holden Commodore became th first to win Bathurst while carrying an in-car camera.
