REVIEW: Yusuf Islam (born Steven Demetre Georgiou) is also commonly known as Cat Stevens or Yusuf/Cat Stevens has sold over 100 million records (and still counting) and has had over two billion streams. His musical career has explored folk, rock, pop and, later in his life, Islamic music. Following two decades in which he performed only music which met strict religious standards, he returned to making secular music in 2006.

When Yusuf first hit the road in Australia it was as the enigmatic Cat Stevens, a powerful and evicative singer-songwriter who brought to the world "Moonshadow", "First Cut Is The Deepest", "Wild World", "Peace Train", "Father And Son", "Morning Has Broken" and many, many more. His debut album, "Matthew And Son", reached top 10 in the UK charts with with its title song peaking at No. 2 becoming Steven's highest charting single at the time. Cat Steven's albums "Tea For The Tillerman" (1970) and "Teaser And The Fircat" (1971 were certified triple platinum in the USA. His 1972 album "Catch Bull At Four" went to No. 1 on the US Billboard 200 and spent weeks at the top of several other major charts.

In 2010, thirty six years after his first tour to Australia, he returned on the back of his 2009 album release "Roadsinger" reminding Australians that the voice that enchanted and inspired the dreams of a generation was still present and timeless as ever. Yusuf's sell-out tour of Australia and New Zealand saw 85.000 adoring and awe-struck fans sitting and swaying, mesmorised by the fact that one of music's greatest inspirations embraced them as his intimate friends.
