Frank Sultana hails from Kiama on the south coast of New South Wales and has been recording professionally since 2011. Dripping with pre-WW2 mojo, dark, dirty guitar tones and a voice that has the grit and soul of the characters and places he writes and sings about, Frank's talents have been recognized globally, winning the 2023 International Blues Challenge in Mississippi being only the third Australian to do so. Winning the competition over 158 competitors after 5 days of competition.

Frank is a storyteller in the traditional sense, inspired by greats like Ray Charles and Bob Dylan, as well as Mississippi blues pioneers like Skip James and Son House. He’s released 5 albums and 3 EPs and has become a permanent fixture on Australia’s live scene, earning a big reputation as a powerhouse singer and gifted songwriter. 

This album comprises tracks lifted from previous albums and includes a session recorded at the legendary Sun Studios in Memphis in January 2023 after winning the Blues Challenge competition. The sound is raw and basic as you would expect from a Frank Sultana solo performance and evokes images of what a recording session at Sun Studios would have been like before the arrival of the "Hillbilly Cat". If you are into pre-WW2 down home blues that this is right down your alley. A smoke filled bar with a minimum lighting with a handful of audience down a sleazy alley in downtown New Orleans. Great blues album *****
