Record Grading & Condition Guide

Record condition in our listings

Check each record’s listing for its specific condition description. We describe the sleeve and the record separately when condition information is available; they may not be in the same condition.

Our current listings use terms such as “near mint”, “excellent” and “very good”, alongside details such as slight edge wear, minor ring-wear and soiling on sleeves. For example, a listing may describe a sleeve as very good with slight edge wear and the record as excellent. Another may describe a sleeve as excellent with minor ring-wear and the record as near mint.

These examples describe individual items, not a guaranteed definition of each grade or a promise about playback. We have not yet published store-specific definitions for VG, VG+, GEN or NM, or a general play-testing policy. Please refer to the individual listing and ask us if you need more detail about visible wear or playability before ordering.

Owner review: Please confirm your actual grading scale, what GEN means in your listings, whether and how you play-test records, and what buyers should expect from each grade before treating this as your final grading policy.
