REVIEW: British group, The Shadows are quite rightly regarded as the greatest instrumental pop group of all time. Originally they called themselves “The Drifters” but changed their name because of confusion with American Rhythm & Blues group of the same name. Hooked up with Cliff Richard, they quickly established a unique sound which became the trademark of all Cliff Richard records. From the opening bars of a Cliff and The Shads (as they became affectionately known) record you new who the group was by their very distinctive sound. Not only did The Shadows play an important part in the career of Cliff Richard they were very much in demand in their own right and were probably the busiest pop group of the '60s. The concert encapsulated in this DVD was filmed in 1989 at the Liverpool Empire to celebrate the 30th birthday of the group. Right throughout the concert The Shadows hold the audience in the palm of their hands. The concert was filmed professionally and the quality both visually and audio wise is excellent. A must for all Shadows fans *****
