REVIEW: Founded in 1967, the Montreux Jazz Festival has established itself as one of the most prestigious annual music events in the world. The extraordinary list of artists who have played there is drawn from across the musical spectrum and from around the world.

 

The year 1994, was to prove to be the great Johnny Cash’s only appearance at the festival. Johnny had just released his acclaimed “American Recordings” album and his European tour took in Montreux on July 5. This classic concert features a number of tracks from his new album coupled with favourites from across his career. Caught at one of the high points of his distinguished career this is truly Johnny Cash at his best. The overall quality is very good.
