REVIEW: Phadera (Sophia Loren), a poor sponge diver, discovers an ancient Greek Statue of a boy riding a dolphin on the bottom of the Aegean Sea while diving near the Greek island of Hydra. The find sparks a race between two competing individuals to retrieve the brass sculpture from the briny deep.
Alan Ladd portrays the honest academic archaeologist, Dr. James Calder, whose aim is to see to it that the statue is handed over to the rightful Greek authorities. Clifton Webb on the other hand plays a rich and unscrupulous grave-robber, Victor Parmalee, who wants to find the statue and keep it in his private collection.
Boy On A Dolphin is a classic romantic adventure film set in Greece and shot in Cinemascope. It was directed by Jean Negulescio, produced by Samuel G. Engel and was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Music Score.
