REVIEW: Having waited 37 long years for a Premiership flag, Richmond have now secured their second in just three years with an emphatic victory over GWS Giants on an unforgettable afternoon at the MCG.

Having tasted Premiership success in 2017, the Tigers of 2018 would suffer Preliminary Final heartbreak against archrivals Collingwood. Heading into 2019, many commentators considered Richmond to be one of the favourites for the 2019 Toyota AFL Premiership and Damien Hardwick’s squad were determined to use the previous season’s Finals disappointment as motivation for the new season. However, the loss of star defender Alex Rance in Round 1 combined with inconsistent form in the first half of the season saw the Tigers sitting in eight place before their Round 14 bye. Returning fully refreshed, the Tigers rediscovered their relentless of old to rack up nine straight victories and secure third place on the ladder after 23 rounds, only missing out on the Minor Premiership on points and percentage.

Facing the season’s surprise package, Brisbane Lions, in a Qualifying Final the Tigers outclassed their rivals at the Gabba to secure an imposing win before a rapturous victory against the Geelong Cats in the Preliminary Final. Then on a historic afternoon at the MCG, Richmond demonstrated the unyielding football with which the club have become synonymous; hassling and harassing their opponents across the field to defeat GWS Giants by a remarkable 89-point margin and lift the Premiership Cup once again!

Sit back and relive the Tigers triumph with a panel of experts as they review the highlights of the club’s historic 2019 Premiership.
