Using a wide variety of revealing footage – including virtually unseen material of this great artist in private, in performance and in various interview settings – this documentary is very nearly a musical autobiography. With profound comments coming from Gordon about his career, his associates and formative influences. Gordon is essentially the narrator of his own life and the romantic jazz world he inhabited. But, the musical heart and soul of this program comes from Dexter Gordon, heard in a wide variety of musical settings – from acappella, to quartet setting, to full orchestra.
